“A LIFE DEFINED BY CONFLICT,
A PASSIONATE CHAMPION FOR WORLD PEACE
District Governor Leah Reich’s theme this year is “PEACE”. To launch this District initiative, we have the opportunity to hear from one of our Rotary Peace Fellows this August and would like to invite your Rotary Club members to meet him.
Zabit Aimal is only one of 50 people chosen to be a Rotary Peace Fellow in 2015. He grew up under the brutal civil war that engulfed Afghanistan and saw many of his friends and relatives killed during the Taliban regime. Learning to speak English, Aimal became a translator and cultural advisor for the US Armed Forces. Receiving a student visa, he studied in Reno and became a Rotary Peace Fellow this year.
We are fortunate to be able to listen to Aimal’s inspirational story before he leaves on September 1 to begin his Master’s Degree program in Conflict Resolution at the University of Bradford in England.
The cost will be $25.00 per person (payable at the door), which covers the dinner. To RSVP to this program, please contact Michele Evans at micheleevans@msn.com or call (415) 559-1261 by Monday, August 3, 2015
