No one who has served our country should ever go without a safe, stable place to call home.

During a 12-month period (October 2009 through September 2010), an estimated 144,842 veterans spent at least 1 night in emergency shelter or transitional housing programs, accounting for 11.5 percent of all homeless adults.  Such staggering results lead the Veterans Administration to set a goal of ending Veteran homelessness by the end of 2015.

The VA's programs provide individualized, comprehensive care to Veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.  Danica Bogicevic, Deputy Network Homeless Coordinator and Coordinator for Veteran Reentry & Justice Outreach Programs for the Veterans Administration, will speak on the current state of homelessness among United States veterans and what is being done to help such veterans.

Danica Bogicevic, LCSW-C

Danica Bogicevic has been a clinical social worker for over 16 years. She is currently the VISN 21 Deputy Network Homeless Coordinator, covering Northern & Central California, Northern Nevada, Hawaii, and Guam. She has worked with Active Duty Military, Veterans, and their dependents; primarily in mental health and substance abuse treatment. She has also worked within the criminal justice system with both civilians and Veterans, most recently having provided outreach and homeless prevention services to incarcerated Veterans.
