ROTARY CLUB OF SAN FRANCISCO
 
The Board of the Rotary Club of San Francisco met on August 27, 2019; a quorum was present. In addition to the Board, Club member Susan Dean was present.
 
President Casey announced that Rotary International President Mark Maloney will be in San Francisco to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the signing of the UN Charter in June 2020 and plans to visit our Club then.
 
The Board reviewed and approved the minutes for July 30, 2019 prepared by Secretary Dora Dye.
 
Gary Dales presented the Treasurer's Report and discussed (1) the updated budget for 2019-2020, (2) the financial statements for the Club for the year ended on June 30, 2019, (3) the cash balances as of August 23, 2019, and (4) the need for signing authority for accounts that do not rest with the Treasurer. As a part of approving the Treasurer’s Report, the Board approved and accepted the financial statements of the Rotary Club of San Francisco as of and for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2019. Gary added that the Club is in strong financial shape.
 
Dan Joraanstad presented two membership applications for consideration. The candidates were Carlos Infante and Evan Fu, and the Board approved both for membership into our Club.
 
Dan talked about setting up a Dance Card where members could record the name of another member in the Club with whom they have connected. The member with the most connections in a given month would get a free lunch at an upcoming Rotary luncheon.
 
The Board talked about filling the position of Vice President of Vocational Service. Susan Dean called for transparency, and the Board agreed to promote all open Board positions at the next Luncheon and on Grindings as well as on the Club’s website.
 
The Board approved the pursuit of a sister relationship with a Rotary Club in Assisi, Italy. John Mathers will follow up on this relationship. In addition, John Mathers talked about the creation of a Climate Action Team involving former member Massimo Maresca.

ROTARY SERVICE, INC.
 
The Board of the Rotary Service, Inc. met on August 27, 2019; a quorum was present. In addition to the Board, Susan Dean, a member of the Rotary Club of San Francisco, was present.
 
President Casey asked for the Board’s permission to create a bank account for the District Designated Funds of the Bike Build and discussed a change that had to be made in order to fund the grant for Roots of Peace.
 
Next, President Casey announced the donation of $1,000 toward the Aquatic Park clean-up on October 19, 2019.
 
The Board:

  • approved the reallocation of funds to the Roots of Peace Grant.
  • approved the award of District Designated Funds to the Bike Build.

  • approved the use of a former RYLA account to house funds for the India Water project.
