ROTARY CLUB OF SAN FRANCISCO
 
The Board of the Rotary Club of San Francisco met on July 30, 2019; a quorum was present. In addition to the Board, Club members Terry Pickering and Stephanie Schmautz were present.
 
The Board reviewed upcoming events for August 2019. Rhonda Poppen announced that the community-based Rotaract Club is looking for speakers, and she had agreed to be a speaker. Dan Joraanstad said that he would invite San Francisco State University, one of our Club's corporate members, to participate in the Rotary Meadow clean-up on September 7.
 
Gary Dales presented the Treasurer's Report with the cash balances as of July 29, 2019; the Report indicated that dues invoices had gone out and the books for June 30, 2019 are in the process of being closed. He presented a preliminary budget for the 2019-20 fiscal year that can be viewed here and also, proposed for accounting purposes that new member dues begin the month following induction.
 
Dan announced the San Francisco Rotary Foundation fundraiser on October 13.
 
The Board:
 
  • approved Cecile Chiquette as the next Rotarian of the Month.
  • reviewed and approved the minutes for June 25, 2019 prepared by Luis Moran, 2018-2019 Secretary.
  • approved the Treasurer's Report and the preliminary budget for 2019-2020 fiscal year.
  • approved billing new members the month following induction.
Dora Dye discussed the results of the volunteer survey handed out at the July 9 and 23 luncheons.
 
Casey asked for candidates to lead the 2019 Holiday Party or the next Worldwide Rotary Day or to serve as Vice President of International Service.
 
The Board talked about the new Young Rotarians group that meets in the evening once a quarter.

ROTARY SERVICE, INC.
 
The Board of the Rotary Service, Inc. met on July 30, 2019; a quorum was present. In addition to the Board, Club members Terry Pickering and Stephanie Schmautz were present.
 
John Mathers gave preliminary details on the September 12, 2019 kick-off for the Youth Initiative Fundraiser. Lynn Luckow provided information on the Youth Initiative Fundraiser which will be a gala on January 15, 2020 in either the Salesforce Tower or at LinkedIn to raise $50,000.
 
Gary Dales presented the Treasurer's Report with the cash balances as of July 29, 2019. He presented a preliminary budget for the 2019-20 fiscal year and discussed the principal assumptions.
 
Lynn presented a letter of interest and a resume from Club member Connor Krone and a resolution to enter into an independent contractor agreement with Connor for the position of Youth Service Program Director.
 
Sacha Shashi discussed the water filter project involving our Club, the Rotary Club of Berlin, and a Rotary Club in India. This project is now ready to be implemented. Sacha proposed some dates to travel to India, but there was no agreement.
 
The Board:
 
  • reviewed and approved the minutes for June 25, 2019 prepared by Luis Moran, 2018-2019 Secretary.
  • approved the Treasurer's Report and the preliminary budget for 2019-2020 fiscal year.
  • approved by majority vote for President Casey to enter into an independent contractor agreement on behalf of Rotary Service, Inc.
