Rotarians and guests enjoyed a private tour of highlights of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) on Thursday, August 30. We learned the difference between modern and contemporary art, with a focus on the contemporary artwork in the museum.

A favorite attraction was by LED artist Jim Campbell who created the electronic art on top of the new Salesforce Tower. Two other popular exhibitions included Louise Bourgeois’ Spiders which consists of sculptures of spiders of various sizes and American Abstraction which features artwork from the 1950’s that is primarily on loan from the Doris and Donald Fischer collection.

We also enjoyed the “living wall” which consists of 40,000 different plant species planted in the environmentally friendly, largest living wall in the United States. There was something for everyone to enjoy and learn!
