A frequent lecturer on American politics and the presidency\, Rothmann has also been involved in a broad variety of p olitical campaigns on the national\, state and local levels. In his book Thomas E. Dewey and the Making of the Modern Republican Party\, president ial scholar Richard Norton Smith calls Rothmann "a scholar of modern Repu blicanism". Historian Roger Morris in his biography\, Richard Millhous Ni xon-The Rise of An American Politician\, acknowledges Rothmann "for his u nique insights\, and in particular for rare and crucial materials ..." J ohn has been on the faculty of the Fromm Institute at the University of S an Francisco since 2004. Rothmann is the co-author of Icon of Evil-Hitler 's Mufti and the Rise of Radical Islam and Harold E. Stassen: The Life an d Perennial Candidacy of the Progressive Republican. He was a consultant on the published books\, The Jews in America\, A Day in the Life of Israe l and Jerusalem in the Shadow of Heaven. His personal library of 15\,000 volumes is widely recognized as one of the finest libraries of American p olitical history and biography in the United States. Proof of V accination and Masks Required To maximize the health and safety of Rotari ans\, guests\, speakers\, staff at the Hotel Nikko (where we meet)\, and those who may potentially be in a high-risk category for complications du e to COVID-19\, the Rotary Club of San Francisco REQUIRES all members and guests\, regardless of vaccination status\, to wear a face covering mask during the meeting except while eating. On August 12\, 2021\, the City a nd County of San Francisco placed proof of COVID-19 vaccination on patron s entering establishments where food/beverages are served. Acceptable pro ofs of vaccination include the CDC vaccination card\, a physical or digit al copy of that card\, documentation from a healthcare provider\, or a pe rsonal digital COVID-19 vaccination record issued by the State of Califor nia. Businesses subject to this new requirement must cross check proof of full vaccination against each patron’s photo identification. The Club b elieves that these policies are consistent with Rotary's Four-Way Test as well as with the current guidelines of the CDC and the San Francisco Dep artment of Public Health.
