In partnership with Jean Caramatti and the Rotary Club of San Francisco International Airport, our Club received over 500 pounds of assorted chocolates and pops from See's Candies to donate to the charitable organizations that we support.

With just two days to respond and pick up the inventory of candy, volunteers from our Community Service team leapt into action and brought the candy to the home of Bob Hermann and Dan Joraanstad. In addition to Bob and Dan, the following Club members volunteered in this effort:  Pat and Tim Hornbecker, Susan and John Dean, Dora and David Dye, Carol Laughlin, Jilma Meneses, Kathryn McCall, Raymond Erickson-King, Rachel Kantosky, Emily Borland, Marti Sullivan, Hayden Gubernick, Lisa Christian, and Dr. Lily Muldoon.

Next, project leaders from the charitable organizations selected were contacted to assess their needs and interest in receiving the chocolates. The charitable organizations participating were The Salvation Army, RotaCare, Alliance for Smiles, RYLA, The ARC San Francisco, Catholic Charities, Family House at UCSF, Something Labs, Community Housing Partnership, and the Homeless Prenatal Program. Of course, everyone had to operate safely:  practicing social distance, wearing a mask and gloves, and gathering in very small groups.

If you missed this community service project, fear not. There will be ample opportunities to serve all of these organizations as we proceed forward in the months ahead, as all of these groups will need our ongoing support.
