President-elect Mary Liu (Real Estate: Sales | JM Real Estate Group | Vanguard Properties) led this meeting and welcomed everyone. She shared photos from the recent Rotary District 5150 Beach Clean-up where 30 pounds of trash were collected in the two miles along Ocean Beach and Sloat Boulevard.

Mary issued a call to members to serve on either the Nominating Committee or the 2021-2022 Board of our Club. She posted on the screen the Board positions that were now open.
 
Marti Sullivan (Development | The Arc San Francisco) joined to invite everyone to attend Salon 2020 on October 15, 2020 at 5:30 PM to celebrate the founding of The Arc San Francisco with special guests: The Honorable Quentin Kopp and our own Past President Tim Hornbecker (Nonprofit Management - Retired | The Arc San Francisco) and former CEO of The Arc San Francisco.

Lynn Luckow (Development | LikeMinded.org) invited members to the ALPS Adult Facilitator Training on either October 17 or October 19.

Past President John Mathers (Management Consulting | eVo Associates) reported on the progress of the 50/50 Campaign. We have reached 57% of our goal so far. For more information or to donate or pledge, go here.

Bob Hermann (Information Technology: Administration - Retired | UCSF), our Vice President of Community Service, joined to introduce one of our corporate members, Catholic Charities. John and Bob presented funding to Catholic Charities on behalf of the San Francisco Rotary Foundation. Jilma Meneses (Nonprofit Management | Catholic Charities) (pictured) accepted the funding and thanked Rotarians for their generosity. She then shared with the audience the services that Catholic Charities has been providing during the pandemic and encouraged Rotarians to volunteer for the many needs.

Janine Padilla (Real Estate: Sales | Astral Management) and Christopher Eggers (Building Security | Clavus Group) announced the first session of the "Ending Human Trafficking Virtual Education Series" on October 21, 2020 at 11 AM. The topic will be Human Trafficking 101, and the guest speaker will be Antonia Lavine of the San Francisco Collaborative Against Human Trafficking. To register, go here.

Peter Logan (Law: Insurance | Peter Logan Law Offices) introduced today's speaker, Glenn Pomeroy (pictured), Chief Executive Officer of the California Earthquake Authority. Glenn gave an informative talk on the likelihood of a big earthquake, how to obtain insurance coverage, what the insurance covers, and some tips on how to prepare for an earthquake.
