The Board reviewed and approved the amended Club Minutes of the June 28, 2022 Board meeting.

President Christopher reported that he had not received any negative feedback related to the dues increase.

The financial statements for June 2022 were not ready for review, but the Board did approve the following actions:
  • President Christopher is added as an authorized signer on the Club's bank accounts.
  • The Club Treasurer is authorized to approve Club expenses of less than $500.
  • The Club President is authorized to approve Club expenses of $500 up to under $5,000.
  • The Board is authorized to approve Club expenses of $5,000 or more.
Next, the Board reviewed and approved the 2022-23 budget, which is projected at a net positive of $2,500. President Christopher reminded everyone that the Club subsidizes each lunch by paying $7 for each attendee; the larger the attendance, the greater the potential for a deficit.

New Member and Membership Plans
Vice President of Membership Margaret Miley presented CJ (Cherry) Albano for membership, and the Board approved.

The Board discussed the creation of an equity membership to assist those who may be precluded from membership due to the cost of dues. Margaret also announced plans to restore Rotary 101, which is a Rotary tutorial program for new and seasoned members lasting 30 minutes after a luncheon once a month.

DEI Report
Scott Plakun, Chair of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, discussed the work that our Club is doing in DEI. The Board discussed the advantages of adding a Vice President of DEI to the Board.

The Club meeting was adjourned at 5:09 PM.

Rotary Service, Inc.
President Christopher Wiseman called the Board meeting to order at 5:09 PM. In attendance were President Christopher, Gary Dales, Sunny Singh, Wendy Shew, Lisa Christian, Frank Yoke, Margaret Miley, Jeff Lerner, Maureen O’Shea, Emily Borland, Mary Liu, JT Forbus, and Stacey Poole, constituting a quorum. Brian Lan was absent. Club Member Scott Plakun also attended the meeting.

The Board of Trustees reviewed and approved the June 28, 2022 Service minutes presented by Secretary Stacey Poole. The June 2022 financial statements were not yet ready for review.

Vice President of Youth Services Lisa Christian shared some concerns raised by our scholarship recipients. When we send the scholarship payment directly to the school, the amount of the other scholarships provided by the school is reduced. At issue was whether the scholarship payment could be sent directly to the recipient for tuition, housing, transportation, books, and technology. Lisa agreed to investigate what other Rotary clubs and foundations that grant scholarships do to address this issue.

Lisa made a motion to have $2,500 of unspent money designated for Interact transferred to the scholarship fund in order to award scholarships of higher value. JT Forbus seconded the motion, and the Trustees approved the motion.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:32 PM.
