DISTRICT LEADERS VISIT OUR CLUB
 
It is customary for the sitting District Governor to visit each Club within the District during the Rotary year. On November 19, 2019, District Governor Sue Rokaw and Assistant Governor Patrice Perillo met with the Board of our Club. After the Board members introduced themselves to DG Sue and AG Patrice, DG Sue identified some key people in the District and talked about the uses of the community service grant currently offered by the District. A lively discussion ensued on our Rotaract Clubs; our Club’s Committees such as Climate Change, Youth Services, and Nominating; and on membership and retention.
 
ROTARY CLUB OF SAN FRANCISCO
 
The Board of the Rotary Club of San Francisco met on November 19, 2019; a quorum was present. In addition to the Board, Club members John Mathers, Terry Pickering, and Connor Krone were in attendance. DG Sue and AG Patrice stayed for this meeting as well.
 
President Casey announced that the Sir Francis Drake Hotel would be unable to host a luncheon for our Club on January 14, 2020. The speaker that was scheduled for January 14 would now speak on January 28, 2020, and the Board would hold its next meeting on January 14, 2020. President Casey also mentioned the need to hold a retreat for incoming and outgoing Board members.
 
DG Sue announced that Gary Chow, past president of the Rotary Club of South San Francisco, had been selected to be District Governor Nominee in 2020-2021.
 
Next, the Board discussed when to hold Worldwide Rotary Day and whom to invite as the keynote speaker.
 
The Board reviewed and approved the minutes for October 29, 2019 prepared by Dora Dye.
 
Gary Dales presented the Treasurer's Report. He went over the balance sheet highlights, the statement of operations highlights, and the outstanding membership dues. The Board approved the Treasurer's Report.
 
The Board heard the following Committee Reports:
 
Membership:  Terry Pickering presented the membership application of Steven Diller for consideration, and the Board approved. Terry announced that Membership would sponsor a prospective member table at the 2019 Holiday Party.
 
Community Service:  Kathryn McCall urged the Club to participate and promote itself in Golden Gate Park’s 150th birthday celebration in 2020.
 
Nominating Committee: JT presented the candidates who had been selected and talked about nurturing the candidates, who were not selected for 2020-2022.
 
ALPS Update:  Connor Krone discussed the five sites where leadership training was currently offered and what the training entailed.
 
Paul Harris Update: Frank Yoke gave an update on the contributions to date and shared his fundraising analysis, comparing our performance to years past.

ROTARY SERVICE, INC.
 
The Board of the Rotary Service, Inc. met on November 19, 2019; a quorum was present. In addition to the Board, District Governor Sue Rokaw and Assistant Governor Patrice Perillo of Rotary District 5150 and Terry Pickering and Connor Krone, both members of the Rotary Club of San Francisco, were in attendance.
 
President Casey asked the Board to consider funding attendance at the next PETS for the incoming president of our community-based Rotaract Club. The Board approved up to $500 to cover this attendance with the understanding that The Rotary Club of San Francisco Evening will cover any remaining balance over $500.
 
The Board reviewed and approved the minutes for October 29, 2019 prepared by Dora Dye.
 
Gary Dales presented the Treasurer’s report. He went over the balance sheet highlights and the statement of activity highlights and commented that Rotary Service, Inc. was in a strong financial position. Gary also talked about the success of Flying with the Foundation, how the water filters for our International Project had been paid for, scholarship activity, and Interact funding to date. The Board approved the Treasurer's Report.
