On Saturday, August 11, Phyllis Nusz, Frank Yoke, and I joined about 50 other Rotarians at a District 5150 Learning and Development Opportunity about The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International (TRF). The presentation focused on the wonderful work our foundation does around the world, including tools to educate and inspire us all.
The mission of The Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty. TRF is the arm of Rotary that funds the effort to eradicate polio, and to address these six priorities:
  • Disease Prevention and Treatment
  • Water and Sanitation
  • Economic and Community Development
  • Basic Education and Literacy
  • Maternal and Child Health
  • Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution
Watch this video about the history of The Rotary Foundation for an introduction to TRF.

Our Club is one of a few dozen of the 35,000 Rotary Clubs in the world that has donated $2,000,000 or more to TRF since its inception in 1917.
This year, our Club is asking each member to donate at least $110 to TRF, in commemoration of our 110th anniversary. You'll soon receive an envelope via snail mail with an opportunity to purchase District raffle tickets as a way to make all or part of your donation. Many of our Club members give during the annual Super Bowl Pool in January.
