MEET A BOARD MEMBER: Nancy Graydon, Vice President of Membership
Nancy Graydon's entire career has been dedicated to fundraising for wonderful organizations including the University of Toronto, UCLA, and now, the Glaucoma Research Foundation (GRF). She feels fortunate to work with an amazing team in her current role at GRF as Executive Director of Development and Chief Operating Officer. In January 2022, she will celebrate her 10th year working at GRF. 
 
Nancy is a very proud Canadian and has family from Vancouver to Halifax. During the pandemic, she bought her first house in Pinole, CA and lives there with Brian, her husband of 16 years, and a rescue dog named Scully. She loves doing crafts and giving old furniture new life with a coat of paint.

MEET A NEW MEMBER: Bill Gregory
Bill Gregory joined our Club on July 13, 2021. He is a first generation college graduate, and his college education at Northern Iowa University (formerly Iowa State Teachers College) is what made his life so meaningful. His general education courses exposed him to the world, and he discovered music, arts, and humanities.

Bill majored in speech therapy. He was a speech therapist in public schools for two years in Iowa. Then, he moved to California in 1963 and worked 32 years in the public schools under the Santa Clara County Office of Education.

SERVICE PROJECT September 13, 2021: Delivering Meals for The Arc San Francisco
Drivers needed to pick up pre-packaged meals at The Arc San Francisco and deliver to individual residences of Arc participants who are experiencing food insecurity. Exact directions will be provided when you pick up the meals. Hand delivery of meals must occur between 4 PM and 5:30 PM in advance of the Monday Night Dinner Club with Friends Like Me via Zoom to be held on the first and third Monday of each month.
 
ROTARY LUNCHEON September 14, 2021: Laurie Thomas and 2020 in the Rearview Mirror and the Road Ahead for the SF Restaurant Industry
Throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic, the San Francisco restaurant industry endured endless policy changes including closures, capacity limits, and mask enforcement, all while trying to keep their employees safe and trying to survive. Laurie Thomas will discuss the lessons and opportunities of the past 18 months and the path and challenges moving forward.
 
 
ROTARY CLIMATE ACTION NETWORK  September 16, 2021:  Andrea Wotan and Ambaree Majumder: Our Diet and the Climate Crisis
Ambaree MajumderAndrea WotanAndrea Wotan and Ambaree Majumder, Co-Chairs of the Plant-Rich Diet Task Force under the Environmental Sustainability Rotary Action Group (ESRAG), have a mission to inspire people around the world to shift to plant-rich diets to protect and preserve our planet. To that end, they will share tips for how to successfully experiment with building a plant-rich diet that works for you. Advanced registration required. SERVICE PROJECT September 17, 2021: Distributing Personal Safety Alarms to Asian Seniors
Volunteers (limited to six) needed to distribute personal safety alarms to 150 Asian Seniors. If you speak or know of someone who speaks Cantonese, Toisan, or Mandarin, that would be helpful but not required to volunteer. All volunteers are required to wear a facial mask covering both nose and mouth at all times.
 
 
SERVICE PROJECT September 18, 2021: Staffing Our Club's Exhibit Table at the 5th Annual Autumn Moon Festival
Volunteers are needed for the Rotary Club of San Francisco's exhibit table at the 5th Annual Autumn Moon Festival. Our exhibit table will be on 8th Avenue and Clement Street. There will be two shifts:  1st shift: 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  2nd shift:  1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. When you register, please indicate which shift you want in the Comment box.

John Mathers will tell us what he did to help create the RCAT Network and give us an overview of the climate crisis along with the issues and actions that will make a difference.

Support youth leadership by joining the Action Leadership Program with Students (ALPS) for virtual leadership coach training! Each training will be limited to 8 individuals. You may join this training on September 23 or October 2.
 
SERVICE PROJECT September 25, 2021: Rotary Meadow Restoration
Come and enjoy nature, fresh air, and fellowship while helping Sutro Stewards weed and restore Rotary Meadow - a garden of native plants our Club planted at the summit of Mount Sutro in 2004. Participation is limited to a maximum of 20 members of our Club. Advanced registration is required.
