President Rhonda Poppen opened the meeting by welcoming visiting Rotarians from the Downtown Rotary Club of Visalia (California), as well as numerous guests.
In accordance with our Club Bylaws, I am pleased to announce that these individuals are scheduled to be inducted into our Club as our newest members on June 4, 2019:
Several Club members have signed up for our service trip to Mfganano Island in Kenya, and some important details have been finalized:
The trip will take place November 27-December 2, 2019.
On World AIDS Day, December 1, we will be working in partnership with the Rotary Club of Mfangano Island to host a youth soccer tournament, health screenings and HIV/AIDS awareness activities.
Enjoy a night under the stars at the Charles F. Hagar Planetarium at San Francisco State University. We will meet for bites and beverages and then be treated to a hosted talk and educational discussion from a professor of the physics and astronomy department. This event is limited to 45 people; so sign up early!
Dr. Jack Higgins, a Rotarian and a Family Physician who is also the Vice-President of the Los Altos Rotary AIDS Project, will talk about preventing AIDS infections in children.
Club member Adrienne Cool, Director of the SF State University Planetarium and Observatory, will describe some exciting recent discoveries in astronomy and provide an astronomical perspective on planet Earth.
Join us at this service opportunity where Club members and guests will stuff diaper bags with the supplies new moms need to help care for their babies. The bags will be distributed to pregnant women involved in Prenatal Classes at the Homeless Prenatal Project. Afterwards, we'll walk down the block to Mars Bar and Restaurant for food, fellowship, and fun.
Join us at one or both of the Baby Showers at the Homeless Prenatal Program where we will give expectant mothers diaper bags filled with supplies. The party for Spanish speakers starts at 10:30 AM; the party for English speakers starts at 1:00 PM.
Join The Rotary Club of San Francisco for a friendly round of golf and a chance to win our coveted Golf Trophy! Points are based on participation, not necessarily golf score, so all skill levels are welcome! Fellowship follows every outing. Tee time is 4:15.
Enjoy the opportunity to make dinner and share it with new friends at The Arc. Rotarians are invited to join the fun at one dinner a month: come once, or make it a regular commitment! Open to family and friends who are over 17.
It's time to thank President Rhonda for a job well done at the traditional "debunking". Come and find out what President-Elect Nominee JT Forbus has planned to help us forever remember President Rhonda as we say THANK YOU at the last Luncheon Meeting of her year as Club President.
Let's show President Rhonda how much we appreciate all the hard work she put into leading us during this great year for our Club! Bring your family to enjoy this celebration picnic at Sunnyside Playground.
