What's New in the Rotary Club of San Francisco!
Despite the uncertainties brought on by the current pandemic, our Club has shown that it can pivot to the changes. Now we are almost at the end of the 2019-2020 Rotary year. Please mark your calendar for June 23 as we say THANK YOU to president Casey for leading us through this difficult year.

The month of June also brings an exciting line-up of speakers including Rotary International President-elect Holger Knaack. Note the start time for this e-meeting only.

BOARD MEMBER PROFILE:  Terry Pickering
After serving as President of his Rotary Club and District Governor of his District, both in the Seattle area, Terry Pickering could have rested on his laurels. Instead, when he joined the Rotary Club of San Francisco in July 2019, he immediately got involved and will serve on the Board as Membership Vice President in 2020-2022. 

“I was a terribly shy person,” he says, “and Rotary has given me the ability, both personally and professionally, in large and small groups, to help others.”

April 2020 Board Highlights
ROTARY CLUB OF SAN FRANCISCO
 
The Board of the Rotary Club of San Francisco met on April 28, 2020; a quorum was present. In addition to the Board, past president John Mathers was in attendance.

The Board reviewed the upcoming events in the Club as listed on today’s Board agenda. John Mathers would lead the May 5, 2020 e-meeting, because President Casey would be away. President Casey encouraged everyone to attend the First Five Rotary Clubs of the World e-meeting on May 7, 2020. The Club Assembly was scheduled for May 19, 2020.

Bouquets to Art (BTA) is a treasured tradition in San Francisco, bringing over 100 creative floral interpretations of artwork into the deYoung Museum for a weeklong celebration of nature and art. BTA Co-Chair Jennifer Forbeck will bring you behind the scenes of the history and show you the execution of BTA and how it will be adapted to the virtual world. Advanced registration required. CLUB SOCIAL June 12, 2020:  Collage and Cocktails
Join Christopher Wiseman, who will share how collage can be fun, relaxing and inspiring. After introductions and showing a few examples, attendees will have an opportunity to collage, have a drink together and talk over Zoom. This activity is open to Rotarians and guests of all ages. District 5150 Awards Regatta June 13, 2020

E-MEETING June 16, 2020:  Emperor Norton’s Fantastic San Francisco Time Machine
Joseph Amster in his alter-ego as Norton I, Emperor of the United States and Protector of Mexico, will talk about the original Emperor Norton — the man and the myth, his rise and fortune, how he lost everything and became the Emperor of the United States and Protector of Mexico, and how San Francisco embraced his Imperial reign.
