Holiday Toy Drive: Please Donate
At the Annual Holiday Party in years past, members of our Club and guests donated unwrapped, new toys to the San Francisco Firefighters Toy Drive. This year we cannot bring our toys to the party, but the need is even more dire. Due to the pandemic and its effect on jobs and incomes, some children may not get a toy this holiday season. Here is how we can help by going online and following these steps:

Celebrating 112 Years of Service Above Self
Happy Thanksgiving, Fellow Rotarians! The Holiday Season is coming fast and furious, and the Holiday Party Committee has been busy planning a GREAT Party for all of you. This year’s party to be held on December 15, 2020 starting at 12 noon promises a lot of surprises that can only be possible in a virtual party atmosphere so we are taking full advantage of our situation.

One tradition worth keeping is our Annual Holiday Toy Drive, and we found a way to continue the Drive this holiday season in a virtual manner. Read here for instructions. You must complete your donation by December 23, 2020.

Walk To End Alzheimer's A Success
The San Francisco Walk to End Alzheimer's kicked off. Although the Walk this year was everywhere, it was a successful event and a heartwarming day for all walkers! Altogether, the Rotary Club of San Francisco raised $590 for Alzheimer's research and awareness.

Over the last few months, members of Rotary worked with the SF Walk Committee to raise awareness through social media, to raise funding for Alzheimer's research, and to distribute event posters to local businesses. The Walk day itself on Saturday, November 7, 2020 saw the Committee Volunteers setting up flower gardens and Walk to End Alzheimer's signage in three locations across San Francisco, Oakland, and Berkeley.

Donations to the City's Homeless
During the last few months, our Club received donations of 3,750 pairs of socks, 2,000 hygiene kits and 2,000 face masks to distribute to the homeless in San Francisco through our partners in the community. This distribution was part of the 4,500 hygiene kits distributed citywide and described more fully here.

We cataloged, sorted and assembled them to give to the City’s Healthy Streets Operation Center, Homeless Prenatal Program, Lava Maex, San Francisco Police Department and Community Housing Partnership. Thanks to Susan and John Dean for offering the storage space in their garage as they received boxes and boxes and more boxes of supplies! Rotarians involved with soliciting donations, organizing, sorting and distributing included Lisa Christian, Ann Daugherty, John Dean, Susan Dean and Jane Mermelstein.

Complete the Rotary Talent Survey
A Rotary Talent Survey was sent out last week, and we encourage all members to take a few minutes to complete the survey. An average response has taken 3 minutes.

The objective of the Rotary Talent Survey is to help gather relevant information to connect you with committee and project leaders so that you can be involved in projects that align with your interests. The survey asks questions to identify your interests and to determine how your skill set can be used to support the Club.

We highly recommend that EVERY member complete this survey. Please reach out to Sunny Singh if you have any questions about the survey.
