Dr. Lily Muldoon says “it’s never too late to sign up” for the Rotary service trip she’s leading to Kenya in November. So far, she’s recruited four members of the Rotary Club of San Francisco and four more from Rotary Clubs in Colorado. The group will be in Kenya on Worldwide AIDS Day, doing health screenings and HIV awareness training.
President Rhonda Poppen (Grant Writing | GRANTdog) welcomed members and a number of guests and visiting Rotarians to the final meeting of the 2018-19 Rotary year (and the last meeting of her term of office). Rhonda gave a special “welcome back” to members Eric Walter (Information Technology: Software | Apple) and Carla Walter (Arts Therapy | Dance in the Spirit), who are back in the Bay Area after Carla’s out-of-town work assignment.

Sheri Greenawald, artistic director of the Merola Opera Program, will provide a behind-the-scenes discussion of what it takes to become an opera star. She will talk about some of the rising opera stars and their upcoming performances, the kinds of challenges top opera performers face, and the technical issues that are at play in certain operas. Her presentation will conclude with a vocal lesson.

In her talk, The Science Behind Living Better Longer, Azar Asadi Shahmirzadi will talk about the work she is doing at the Buck Institute, and how it is impacting the field of aging research along with other work the Buck is doing.
