Rotary District 5150 sponsored a Polio Summit on October 3, 2020. Our Club's past president Laine Hendricks served as emcee to this Summit. The Summit was a wonderful event with world class Polio experts who provided us with important updates about our fight against Polio.
Because of the efforts of Rotary and its partners, nearly 19 million people who would otherwise have been paralyzed are walking, and more than 1.5 million people are alive who would otherwise have died. The infrastructure we helped build to end polio is also being used to treat and prevent other diseases (including COVID-19) and create lasting impact in other areas of public health.
President-elect Mary Liu (Real Estate: Sales | JM Real Estate Group | Vanguard Properties) led this meeting and welcomed everyone. She shared photos from the recent Rotary District 5150 Beach Clean-up where 30 pounds of trash were collected in the two miles along Ocean Beach and Sloat Boulevard.
Mary issued a call to members to serve on either the Nominating Committee or the 2021-2022 Board of our Club. She posted on the screen the Board positions that were now open.
