What's New in the Rotary Club of San Francisco!
The month of October 2020 is filled with events and new opportunities for members and guests.

75th Anniversary of the United Nations
On pages 20 and 21 of the October 2020 issue of the Rotary magazine is an article entitled "A partnership with a long history" about the partnership between the United Nations and Rotary. Our Club is celebrating this partnership on October 6, 2020 when our guest speaker will be Dr. Tatjana Kobb, who was appointed by Rotary International President Holger Knaack as a 2020-2021 Rotary International Representative at the United Nations headquarters.

If you have specific questions about the role of the UN in these challenging times or have questions about the role of Rotary in the founding of the UN, please submit them to Susan Dean and we will pass them on to Dr. Kobb.

Volunteering at Rotary Meadow
Saturday, September 19, 2020 was a day filled with sunshine and pleasant weather; it was perfect for working outdoors. Led by Harold Hoogasian, the group of Rotarians and a newly relocated Rotaractor, Ambra Jacobson, made some significant headway in helping to garden a section of Rotary Meadow. Folks, although socially distanced, were able to talk and work together as they tackled brambles, English Ivy, and non-native grasses. Working to support the environment was this team's goal in helping to pave the way for native plants in the area that our group was assigned. We made a significant dent in the landscape as is evidenced by the photos.

Membership News: Fun Activities Planned for October 2020 and Beyond
So many of us have enjoyed gathering for our Club's Sunday Socials; as we may all agree, one of the core essentials for Rotarians is fellowship. True to our nature, during COVID-19 protocols, we found and continued to create innovative ways to remain connected. And so, it is with great pleasure that I share with you a brand new monthly program series that the Membership Committee's Event Planning Team has created for us! Beginning October 28, we invite you to join fellow Rotarians and their children, guests, and of course, beloved pets, for a good old-fashioned Halloween costume party. This promises to be a "don't miss" event. There will be a prize for the best costume; our judges will be taking notes!

E-MEETING Highlights for September 22, 2020: Nancy Cushen White and English Spelling
Before this meeting began, President-elect Mary Liu (Real Estate: Sales | JM Real Estate Group | Vanguard Properties) moved each person who logged in early to a breakout room to mix and mingle with fellow Rotarians and guests. This was a great idea from past president John Mathers (Management Consulting | eVo Associates) and reminded us of how we used to socialize before the Tuesday meetings actually began.
