MEET A BOARD MEMBER: Miranti Ojong, Vice President of Development
Miranti Ojong is a financial services agency builder currently spanning across 15 states and continuing to expand across the US where she financially educates clients and business owners in various demographics and communities. Her services include retirement planning, investments, life, health and disability insurance, estate planning, college planning, and business financial planning. She is a mentor and trainer to agents and independent business owners in her profession to help guide their success and reach their career goals. Her mission is to empower every individual with the right knowledge and tools to achieve financial independence.

MEET A NEW MEMBER: Caryn Crump
Caryn Crump joined our Club on August 17, 2021. She is a retired corporate executive and former adjunct Rice University professor who currently owns CPI, a small international instructional and consulting company. Caryn is also an adjunct professor at Norwich University in its MBA program. She loves to travel and work internationally and is the mother of two adult children. She currently has a home in Puerto Vallarta and has extended an invitation to our Club to stay at her home. Prior to joining our Club, Caryn had been a member of two other Rotary clubs and believes that "community service is one of the most rewarding things that someone can do".

LUNCHEON MEETING HIGHLIGHTS August 24, 2021: Doug Lloyd, Mobility Trends and the Future of Transportation
President Mary Liu (Real Estate: Sales | JM Real Estate Group) called the meeting to order at 12:15 PM. This was our first Zoom-only meeting in the current Rotary year.

SERVICE PROJECT (FIRST SHIFT) September 4, 2021: Distributing Personal Safety Alarms to Asian Seniors
Volunteers (limited to eight) needed to distribute personal safety alarms to 800 Asian Seniors. If you speak or know of someone who speaks Cantonese, Toisan, or Mandarin, that would be helpful but not required to volunteer. All volunteers are required to wear a facial mask covering both nose and mouth at all times.
 
 
SERVICE PROJECT (SECOND SHIFT) September 4, 2021: Distributing Personal Safety Alarms to Asian Seniors
Volunteers (limited to eight) needed to distribute personal safety alarms to 800 Asian Seniors. If you speak or know of someone who speaks Cantonese, Toisan, or Mandarin, that would be helpful but not required to volunteer. ROTARY LUNCHEON September 7, 2021: Jaxon Van Derbeken and How Investigative Reporters Do Their Research
A gas explosion in a residential neighborhood. A tilting highrise. Broken bolts on a new bridge. When man-made "stuff" goes wrong, Jaxon Van Derbeken is there to investigate. He will explain the common thread that runs through seemingly unrelated man-made disasters, and how he unravels it to tell stories that are informative, compelling. and possibly groundbreaking journalism. 
 
 
VOCATIONAL MEETING September 9, 2021: Fellowship and Business Networking
Join members of the Rotary Club of San Francisco and friends for vocational fellowship and business networking. This is an opportunity to share your occupation with your fellow Rotarians and how we can possibly support you. The evening includes a cash bar offering beverages and appetizers. Advanced registration required.
 
 
SERVICE PROJECT September 13, 2021: Delivering Meals for The Arc San Francisco
Drivers needed to pick up pre-packaged meals at The Arc San Francisco and deliver to individual residences of Arc participants who are experiencing food insecurity. Exact directions will be provided when you pick up the meals. Hand delivery of meals must occur between 4 PM and 5:30 PM in advance of the Monday Night Dinner Club with Friends Like Me via Zoom to be held on the first and third Monday of each month.
 
ROTARY LUNCHEON September 14, 2021: Laurie Thomas and 2020 in the Rearview Mirror and the Road Ahead for the SF Restaurant Industry
Throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic, the San Francisco restaurant industry endured endless policy changes including closures, capacity limits, and mask enforcement, all while trying to keep their employees safe and trying to survive. Laurie Thomas will discuss the lessons and opportunities of the past 18 months and the path and challenges moving forward.

John Mathers will tell us what he did to help create the RCAT Network and give us an overview of the climate crisis along with the issues and actions that will make a difference. 
 
 
SERVICE PROJECT September 25, 2021: Rotary Meadow Restoration
Come and enjoy nature, fresh air, and fellowship while helping Sutro Stewards weed and restore Rotary Meadow - a garden of native plants our Club planted at the summit of Mount Sutro in 2004. Participation is limited to a maximum of 20 members of our Club. Advanced registration is required.
