What's New in the Rotary Club of San Francisco!
Happy New Rotary Year! Our new Board spent a long Friday (June 26, 2020) afternoon via Zoom getting to know one another and setting some goals for the coming year. The 2020-2021 theme for Rotary International is "Rotary Opens Opportunities". The 2020-2021 theme for Rotary District 5150 is "Rotary Chosen Family".

May 26, 2020 Board Highlights
ROTARY CLUB OF SAN FRANCISCO
 
The Board of the Rotary Club of San Francisco met on May 26, 2020; a quorum was present. In addition to the Board, past president John Mathers was in attendance.

The Board reviewed the upcoming events in the Club as listed on today’s Board agenda. JT announced his plan to call a Zoom meeting for Club members over the age of 60 and hear their concerns and thoughts about reopening in-person meetings.

News from the San Francisco Rotary Foundation
On June 24, 2020, the Board of the San Francisco Rotary Foundation (SFRF) held their final meeting of the Rotary year 2019-20. This was Tim Hornbecker’s last meeting as SFRF Board President, completing an outstanding tenure through challenging times. Tim navigated the Foundation meetings through COVID-19 with the use of technology and led the Board in approving funding for personal protective equipment (PPE) in lightning speed.

Upcoming Events
Drivers Needed to Deliver PPE
If you are available for a block of two to four hours starting July 3, 2020 to help with transportation of PPE to hospitals or other sites, please contact Sam Haynor. The job includes driving items like gowns, shields, and new PPE prototypes. As a volunteer driver, you will never need to go inside, but will only do pick-ups and drop-offs curbside. Gas expenses will be reimbursed.
 
This request comes from our member and emergency room physician, Dr. Lily Muldoon, who has been working with Something Labs. Something Labs has produced, assembled, and distributed 30,000 face shields to health facilities in need and most recently sent 500 to San Quentin Prison, where there is a severe outbreak and over 1,100 prisoners are infected. If you can, please help.

CLUB SOCIAL July 9, 2020:  Collage and Cocktails
Join Christopher Wiseman, who will share how collage can be fun, relaxing and inspiring. After introductions and showing a few examples, attendees will have an opportunity to collage, have a drink together and talk over Zoom. This activity is open to Rotarians and guests of all ages. E-MEETING July 21, 2020: Patricia Frost, Children and Disaster: Being Aware and Prepared During COVID
The needs of children are often not part of routine disaster planning and preparedness in communities. Patricia Frost, Vice Chair of the National Pediatric Disaster Coalition, will discuss the impact of COVID-19 on children and communities and how each of us plays a role in creating systems of mitigation, response, recovery, and resiliency for children.
