A team of 17 Rotary volunteers gathered high atop Rotary Meadow in the foggy heart of Sutro Forest on Saturday, September 25 at 9:15 AM. The volunteers came from several Clubs, including the Rotary Clubs of San Francisco #2, San Francisco Castro, San Francisco West, and San Francisco Chinatown. With our primary meadow advocate, Harold Hoogasian, unexpectedly away on business, Bob Hermann led our merry crew. The work we do in this project aligns with the seventh principle supported by The Rotary Foundation: Supporting the Environment. The meadow is a great example of how our many work projects have improved life in the City of San Francisco for generations to come.
The Rotary Club of San Francisco is proud to be in its 7th year to support the Homeless Prenatal Program (HPP). Martha Ryan, the Executive Director of HPP, will attend our lunch meeting on October 19 to accept our Foundation’s donation. Martha will also give us an update on the latest happenings at HPP.
While we were originally scheduled to bag diapers and attend quarterly baby showers this fiscal year, our Club will once again adapt to the Community’s needs due to the COVID Delta variant. HPP is not distributing diaper bags or holding baby showers at this time. Instead, they have asked our Club to bag personal care items for their clientele.
A quorum of the board members met for their first board meeting of the 2021-22 Rotary Board year. Dan Joraanstad was also present to represent the San Francisco Rotary Foundation.
The Board spent considerable time discussing additional proposed changes to the By-Laws, which will be voted on at the December annual meeting.
Treasurer Gary Dales spoke about the 2021-22 budget. While it has a slight deficit, Gary believes the Club is still in good financial standing given the surplus the year prior. He noted that invoices had gone out to the membership both via U.S. Mail and e-mail.
