February 2020 Board Highlights
ROTARY CLUB OF SAN FRANCISCO
 
The Board of the Rotary Club of San Francisco met on February 25, 2020; a quorum was present. In addition to the Board, Club member John Mathers was in attendance. 
 
The Board reviewed the upcoming events in the Club and in the District and discussed the two events planned for March 6, 2020: (1) dinner and an evening at the San Francisco Ballet, and (2) the Gala for The Arc San Francisco.

President Casey presented what he had in mind for the Town Hall on March 17, 2020. He wanted to be able to call on several vice presidents to talk about the accomplishments of their service committee so far this Rotary year. President Casey added that lunch on March 17 would be an Irish meal and authorized Dora to purchase some table decorations.

SERVICE PROJECT April 1, 2020:  Report on SFPD Sock Delivery
The Rotary Club of San Francisco has been purchasing socks for the last few years and distributing them through organizations that our Club partners with who work with the homeless including: Homeless Prenatal Program, San Francisco Fire Department's Paramedics, Catholic Charities, and San Francisco Police Department. Why? Socks are one of the most requested items by homeless people. Our partner organizations have been enthusiastic about the donations, including the San Francisco Police Department who have noted that having socks can help build rapport with homeless people.

Vocational Service April 10, 2020:  Make Connections and Grow Your Business!
Join us virtually to introduce us to your business or non-profit organization and connect with like-minded people to receive quality referrals and form strategic alliances. We will also be sharing how your business skills can be used to benefit humanitarian work through our Club’s local and international service projects. Open to all interested members who want to support other members and their businesses. Feel free to invite your non-Rotarian friends to join us too!
 
E-MEETING April 14, 2020:  Ricardo Baeza-Yates, Bias on the Web
The Web is the most powerful communication medium and the largest public data repository that humankind has created. Ricardo Baeza-Yates will discuss the different biases that affect all of us on the Web. Awareness is the first step to be able to fight and reduce the vicious cycle of web bias. Advanced registration required. Connection instructions will be provided to all who register.
 
Dinner Club at The Arc: April 20, 2020
