Calling all Rotarians to help nearly 8,000 immigrants in San Mateo, San Francisco, and Marin counties apply for emergency funds during the month of June. Catholic Charities, one of our Club's corporate members, is seeking translators. The biggest need is for translators who are fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin, Thai, Tongan, Tagalog, Spanish, or Vietnamese to assist immigrants affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In partnership with Jean Caramatti and the Rotary Club of San Francisco International Airport, our Club received over 500 pounds of assorted chocolates and pops from See's Candies to donate to the charitable organizations that we support.
Over 45 Rotarians and guests from throughout District 5150 joined our Club's May 28, 2020 Educational Series to hear from incoming District Governor Mary Bates and incoming District Governor-elect Danielle Lallement. Also in the audience was District Governor-elect Nominee Gary Chow. Our President-elect JT Forbus introduced both speakers and welcomed everyone.
President Casey Blair (Financial Services: Private Trading | KCB Trading, LLC) convened the Club’s “virtual meeting” at 12:15 PM. Sixty-one participants joined the meeting via Zoom, including eight guests. In light of the current protests focused on racial equality, President Casey cited Rotary’s longtime commitment to peace and conflict resolution and presented a quote from the late Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.: “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
