In accordance with our Club Bylaws, I am pleased to announce that the Board has accepted the nomination of these new members:

LUNCHEON MEETING MINUTES April 16, 2019: Melissa Galliani
President Rhonda Poppen opened the meeting by welcoming visiting Rotarians from Finland and Honduras. The visitor from Honduras is the father of Sophia Valverde (Consulate Management; Consulate of Honduras). We also had several visitors from Support for Families of Children with Disabilities (“SFCD”) in San Francisco.

Dr. Jahan Fahimi will discuss firearm violence prevention from his perspective as an ER doctor, including a history of firearm violence in the US and a framework for addressing the epidemic of firearm violence.
 
ROTARY LUNCHEON May 14, 2019: Carlos Muela, StrEat Food Park
Carlos Muela, owner and founder of SoMa StrEat Food Park, will tell us how he started the first food truck park in San Francisco.
 
ROTARY 101 May 14, 2019
President-Elect Casey Blair will offer a brief training to new and prospective members immediately following the regular luncheon meeting. The training will last about 30 minutes. Whether you are new or returning, everyone is welcome!
 
Welcome to the Club: May 15, 2019
This meet-and-greet at the office of Lynn Luckow in Union Square is an opportunity for new and prospective members to get better acquainted with each other as well as with a few Club leaders and longer-term members. Light food and refreshments will be provided. Address provided to everyone who RSVPs.
 
DISTRICT CONFERENCE May 17-19, 2019
The annual District Conference is where clubs in the District come together to celebrate the year's accomplishments under the leadership of District Governor Jayne Hulbert. This year's District Conference is a 4-way fest involving Districts 5130, 5150, 5160, and 5190; more districts, more opportunities, and more fun. All members are encouraged to attend, especially members who are moving into leadership positions.
 
Dinner Club at The Arc: May 20, 2019
Enjoy the opportunity to make dinner and share it with new friends at The Arc. Rotarians are invited to join the fun at one dinner a month: come once, or make it a regular commitment! Open to family and friends who are over 17.
 
ROTARY LUNCHEON May 21, 2019: Dr. Eric Plakun, 4 Freedoms of Mental Health
Dr. Eric Plakun, Medical Director/CEO of the Austen Riggs Center, will discuss four freedoms that are key to overcoming obstacles to mental health treatment.
 
CLUB SOCIAL May 30, 2019: Charles F. Hagar Planetarium at San Francisco State University
Enjoy a night under the stars at the Charles F. Hagar Planetarium at San Francisco State University. We will meet for bites and beverages and then be treated to a hosted talk and educational discussion from a professor of the physics and astronomy department. This event is limited to 45 people; so sign up early!

ROTARY LUNCHEON June 4, 2019: Dr. Jack Higgins, Preventing AIDS in Children
Dr. Jack Higgins, a Rotarian and a Family Physician who is also the Vice-President of the Los Altos Rotary AIDS Project, will talk about preventing AIDS infections in children.
 
INTERNATIONAL SERVICE OPPORTUNITY in Kenya: November, 2019
Join Rotarian Lily Muldoon on a trip to Western Kenya for hands-on volunteering and Rotary fellowship!
 
The Rotary Club of San Francisco is sponsoring a radio project in Africa that is focused on health education. This is an opportunity to visit the site and contribute to the work.
