President Rhonda Poppen opened the meeting by welcoming visiting Rotarians from Finland and Honduras. The visitor from Honduras is the father of Sophia Valverde (Consulate Management; Consulate of Honduras). We also had several visitors from Support for Families of Children with Disabilities (“SFCD”) in San Francisco.
Dr. Jahan Fahimi will discuss firearm violence prevention from his perspective as an ER doctor, including a history of firearm violence in the US and a framework for addressing the epidemic of firearm violence.
President-Elect Casey Blair will offer a brief training to new and prospective members immediately following the regular luncheon meeting. The training will last about 30 minutes. Whether you are new or returning, everyone is welcome!
This meet-and-greet at the office of Lynn Luckow in Union Square is an opportunity for new and prospective members to get better acquainted with each other as well as with a few Club leaders and longer-term members. Light food and refreshments will be provided. Address provided to everyone who RSVPs.
The annual District Conference is where clubs in the District come together to celebrate the year's accomplishments under the leadership of District Governor Jayne Hulbert. This year's District Conference is a 4-way fest involving Districts 5130, 5150, 5160, and 5190; more districts, more opportunities, and more fun. All members are encouraged to attend, especially members who are moving into leadership positions.

Dr. Eric Plakun, Medical Director/CEO of the Austen Riggs Center, will discuss four freedoms that are key to overcoming obstacles to mental health treatment.
Enjoy a night under the stars at the Charles F. Hagar Planetarium at San Francisco State University. We will meet for bites and beverages and then be treated to a hosted talk and educational discussion from a professor of the physics and astronomy department. Dr. Jack Higgins, a Rotarian and a Family Physician who is also the Vice-President of the Los Altos Rotary AIDS Project, will talk about preventing AIDS infections in children.
