The Rotary Club of San Francisco and the San Francisco Rotary Foundation launched the Action Leadership Program with Students (ALPS) in 2019. Below is an ALPS project where we can help by donating canned food. Any questions, please contact Harmony Ma, ALPS Program Manager.
Well, today is the day! It has been about a year since I took office, and almost a year and a half before seeing each of you in the same room together. Today, we are celebrating so many things! Sure, we’re celebrating the obvious coup of my Presidency, but we are celebrating so much more.
We are celebrating seeing friends in 3-D, shaking hands, hugging, elbowing, meeting the new members, and finding out who ate too many sweets during the pandemic!
We are celebrating being together, feeling normal, enjoying a new venue, and moving on from what hopefully is a once in a lifetime event.
But while we transform into Phoenixes rising from ashes, let’s talk for a moment about where we’ve been:
Seventy members and guests in person and online combined attended President JT’s first and last in-person meeting and our first meeting at our new location — the Hotel Nikko. Those attending in person especially enjoyed fellowship, hugs, and seeing people “in real life” after 15 months of Zoom meetings. The meeting was kicked off by President JT Forbus (Accounting | Bogdan & Frasco) who asked for a round of applause for the fact that we were meeting in person.
Visiting Rotarians and Special Guests In today's audience were the following guests in person: Bud Dillon, William Gregory, Bob Hunter, Esther Landau, Forrest Liu, and Eric Sleigh. Online were these guests: Salvador Farfan, Anne Marie Forbus (President JT's wife), Gabriel Kupeli, Rotary District 5150 Assistant Governor Liz Mark, and Malinda Monterrosa of the Rotary Club of Los Angeles.
Our first in-person with a Zoom option meeting on June 22, 2021 at the Hotel Nikko was a huge success and will be long remembered. However, it could not have happened without the hard work of Club volunteers. Thank you to the following:
Lisa Stark, Maureen O'Shea, Nancy Graydon, Ann Daugherty and Jane Mermelstein for serving as a Greeter.
Nancy Graydon and Bill Poppen for sorting the Club name tags.
Ann Daugherty for collecting the lunch tickets.
Dan Davies for helping with the microphone.
Bob Hermann, Gary Dales, and Casey Blair for handling check-in.
Stacey Poole for serving as the scribe. Her notes were used to create the written highlights of this meeting. READ HERE.
Lesya Pishchevskaya for taking these photos: CLICK HERE
Ed Shenkan for helping to take down the equipment at the conclusion of the meeting.
Join the Rotary Club of Daly City/Colma Evening, the Rotary Club of Pacifica, and the Rotary Club of San Francisco to distribute RotaCare Northern Peninsula flyers during a drive-through food distribution hosted by Second Harvest and coordinated by the Daly City Partnership. There is also a choice to participate in the food distribution. Advanced registration is required.
In honor of the Independence Day holiday weekend, there is no Rotary Luncheon on July 6, 2021. Our first meeting for the Rotary year 2021-2022 will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2021.
In her first meeting as Club President, Mary Liu will discuss the 2021-2022 Rotary International theme, Serve to Change Lives and what it means for our Club. She will also share her goals.
A top priority for Rotary is growing and diversifying its membership to make sure it reflects the communities it serves. Dr. Todd “Bowtie” Jenkins will discuss Rotary's plan to align Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion assessment, strategy, goals, and initiatives.
