Rodrigo DuranCarnaval San Francisco (CSF) curates educational platforms and creates artistic spaces of revelry that heal, strengthen, and unite disenfranchised communities of color through the power of art and culture. CSF has served the Mission and the greater San Francisco community since 1978 through the production of a year-round calendar of cultural and civic events. In response to COVID-19, CSF co-founded and has taken an active leadership role in the San Francisco Latino Task Force, a collaboration of community-based organizations in the Mission, who are working to meet the needs of the Latino community in crisis.

Rodrigo E. Durán is the son of Mexican immigrants, a San Francisco native, and an advocate for Latinx cultural preservation. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from UC San Diego in Communications and a Master’s degree from San Francisco State University in Public Administration, with an emphasis in Nonprofit Management. As CSF’s Festival Director since 2016, he has created safe spaces for the Latinx community to celebrate their cultures and languages. Since the beginning of the pandemic, his role has evolved to include the management of the Mission Food Hub’s operations, which provides 7,000 families with culturally relevant groceries every week. From 2018 to 2021, he served as the Marketing Coordinator for the Calle 24 Latino Cultural District, where he was instrumental in advocating and promoting the Latino cultural assets in the Mission District. In 2020, he had the honor of serving as the Master of Ceremony for the annual City & County of San Francisco Latino Heritage Month Celebration, hosted by Mayor London N. Breed.
