Joe D'AlessandroSan Francisco’s dynamic tourism industry was especially hard hit during the Pandemic, declining almost 80% over 2019. However, as the City begins to reopen, there is some light at the end of the tunnel. Find out from Joe D’Alessandro, President and CEO of the San Francisco Travel Association when we’ll start to see conventions, meetings, and international visitors returning to the City by the Bay.

San Francisco runs through Joe D’Alessandro’s blood. He’s the grandson of Italian immigrants who arrived in San Francisco over 110 years ago. It’s only fitting that he now leads the San Francisco Travel Association that was founded at roughly the same time. Since taking the job as President and CEO in 2006, Joe has driven San Francisco Travel to adopt the San Francisco ethos of community, innovation, and openness as its core business values. Since 2009, visitation to San Francisco has grown by nearly 30%.

The San Francisco Travel Association is the City’s official destination marketing organization (DMO), promoting San Francisco and the Bay Area to the world as the premier destination for conventions, meetings, events and leisure travel. In Joe’s decade of leadership, the association has become one of the largest membership-based DMOs in the country, with employees stationed across the country and around the globe.

This is a regular membership meeting of the Rotary Club of San Francisco, open to all Rotarians, visiting Rotarians, prospective members, and guests.

Meeting Schedule:

12:00 Noon  Registration & Networking
12:15 PM (sharp!)  Meeting begins (club business followed by keynote speaker)
1:30 PM  Meeting adjourns

A three-course lunch will be served. The price is $45, with old tickets for lunch from the Sir Francis Drake accepted as a partial payment of $35.

Remote attendance via Zoom is available at no charge. Register here for Zoom attendance only

To maximize the health and safety of Rotarians, guests, speakers, staff at the Hotel Nikko (where we meet), and those who may potentially be in a high-risk category for complications due to COVID-19, the Rotary Club of San Francisco REQUIRES all members and guests, regardless of vaccination status, to wear a face covering mask during the meeting except while eating.

The Club believes that these policies are consistent with Rotary's Four-Way Test as well as with the current guidelines of the CDC and the San Francisco Department of Public Health. Thank you.
