Pam MacKinnnon will talk about A NEXT CHAPTER: ACT and theater in the Bay Area.

Pam MacKinnon is the Artistic Director of American Conservatory Theater (ACT) in San Francisco. Currently running at ACT’s Geary Theater is her production of Edward Albee’s Seascape.

She won the Tony and Drama Desk Awards for her direction of Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (Steppenwolf, Arena Stage and Broadway), as well as an Outer Critics Circle Award nomination. She won an Obie Award and a Tony Award nomination for Bruce Norris’Clybourne Park (Playwrights Horizons, Mark Taper, Broadway). Other recent and upcoming directing credits include Bruce Norris’ Downstate (Steppenwolf and the National Theatre), Lydia Diamond’s Toni Stone (Roundabout Theatre), Beau Wilimon’s The Parisian Woman (Broadway), starring Uma Thurman.

Pam is the president of the executive board of the national labor union, Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC), and alumna of the Lincoln Center and Women’s Project Directors’ Labs, and Associate Artist of the Roundabout Theatre, and after six seasons of being board chair now sits on the advisory board of the New York City theater company Clubbed Thumb, dedicated to new American plays.
