Fans of Leah Garchik's daily column on the back page of the San Francisco Chronicle know that her column has introduced her to all the best people and gets her into every interesting event in our City.

It's no wonder that she says she has the best job in town!

In her talk, "Hanging In at the Chronicle," Leah will tell us about her experiences climbing up the hills and sliding down the chutes of San Francisco, geographically and socially.

Leah Garchik washed up on the shores of Fifth and Mission in 1972, began her duties as a part-time temporary steno clerk, and ascended the journalistic ladder. Over the years, she has served as writer, reviewer, editor and columnist. She is the author of two books, San Francisco: Its Sights and Secrets and Real Life Romance.

She is an avid knitter, a terrible accordion player, a sporadic tweeter and a pretty good speller.
