Rebecca EnnalsThe San Francisco Shakespeare Festival celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2022. Artistic Director Rebecca Ennals looks back over the Festival's history, including how the company thrived during the pandemic, with an eye toward creating Shakespeare that speaks to us now and in the years to come.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Theatre from Scripps College and an Master of Fine Arts in performance from U.C. Davis. She has taught and written curriculum at the elementary through college levels. As a director and teaching artist, she has worked locally with Marin Theatre Company, PlayGround, Napa Valley Shakespeare Festival, Pear Theatre, Napa Valley Repertory Theatre, Peninsula Youth Theatre, Los Altos Youth Theatre and Shakespeare At Stinson. Ms. Ennals has directed eight productions for the Festival's Shakespeare On Tour in-school touring program, six productions for the Civic Arts Stage Company program in Pleasanton, and four productions for Free Shakespeare in the Park. She also regularly writes the Festival’s Green Shows and conceived and executed the 2012 pop-up Shakespeare project "30 Days of Free Shakespeare in the Parklet" and the 2017 project “35 Famous Speeches in 35 Famous Places.” She  developed a new musical of As You Like It with The Kilbanes and Phil Wong, which was produced in Summer 2019.

Remote attendance via Zoom is available at $10 per attendee. Register here for Zoom attendance only

For in-person attendees: Please note that once President Mary provides the headcount to the Hotel Nikko on the Friday before our Tuesday meeting, we will be billed for that count regardless of whether you show or not. Therefore, it is important to let her know if you are unable to attend after registering, but no later than Sunday night. If you are a no-show without notifying her ahead of time, the Club will be billed the cost of the meal and will have to pass the cost down to you. We hope to not have to do this.

Proof of Vaccination Required

To maximize the health and safety of Rotarians, guests, speakers, and the staff at the Hotel Nikko (where we meet), all in-person attendees must provide proof of vaccination. Masks are optional during the event. We recommend that fully vaccinated individuals wear masks when the risk may be high.
