Come and enjoy nature, fresh air, and fellowship as we do some gardening and weeding to improve and enhance Rotary Meadow in the heart of Sutro Forest. Rotary Meadow features a garden of native plants and a view of the 61-acre forest below. The Meadow was developed by Sutro Stewards volunteers to restore the native plant population as identified in the 2001 Sutro Plan. The Rotary Club of San Francisco provided the financing to bring this restoraton to fruition in 2004. Everyone who walks the trails of Mount Sutro owes their nature-walk-in-the-city to the Stewards volunteers, who have logged thousands of hours clearing the trails.

Before you register, please review these important guidelines:

  • Arrive by 9:15 AM for registration and signing of release form.
  • Attend an orientation. Each participant will receive training, gloves, and tools from the Sutro Steward leaders. If you can, bring your own gardening gloves.
  • The total limit is 10 people (Rotarians plus guests). Children ages 10 and above of the participating 10 Rotarians are welcome.
  • All volunteers must bring and wear a face covering over both the nose and the mouth.
  • Wear closed-toe shoes.
  • If you want, bring your own water and snack.
  • Ample social distancing is available with this outside work project.

Rotarians Over Age 60
Sutro Stewards has an option for Rotarians over 60+ and/ or with underlying health conditions (anyone considered to be in a high risk category). This is an adaptation made to Sutro Stewards' regular program to help volunteers feel more at ease. If you wish to volunteer in this category, please contact millie.c@sutrostewards.org

Parking
On-site parking is free during the program located above the nursery at 476 Johnstone Dr. in red spaces marked “Aldea Center Parking Only.” Additional street parking can be found nearby on Clarendon Avenue and Christopher Drive.
