We know that climate change is a problem, and we know to change our light bulbs, but that won't be enough. Are there any solutions that will truly address the scale global climate change and put us on a path to a sustainable future? The answer is YES! We need to put a price on carbon. This presentation will talk about how carbon pricing works, how it would impact the economy and society, and the political feasibility of this solution. We'll also explain what you can do to help.

Whitney Larsen and Heath Massey are volunteers with the Citizens Climate Lobby (CCL), non-profit, non-partisan, grassroots advocacy organization focused on national policies to address climate change.

Whitney Larsen works in the renewable energy and energy efficiency industry as a project manager. She has performed home energy audits on thousands of homes and seen firsthand how simple retrofits can help people save money, be more comfortable, and reduce their carbon footprint. She has been an active volunteer with the San Francisco chapter of the CCL for the last year, and now leads their Presenters and Grasstops Outreach program.

Heath Massey is a licensed landscape architect and a landscape historian, retired from the faculty of the University of California, Davis, where she taught Landscape Architecture from 1990-2013. She is the author of Picturing California’s Other Landscape: The Great Central Valley (Heyday Press, 1999) and Melodramatic Landscapes: Urban Parks in the Nineteenth Century (University of Virginia Press, 2009). Currently she spends much of her time to drawing and painting landscapes, rather than designing them. She has been an active volunteer with CCL for over two years.  She is also a San Francisco City Guide and writes a blog about Golden Gate Park.
