2020 Interact Scholarship Winners
The Rotary Club of San Francisco is proud to announce its 2020 Interact Leadership Award Recipients. For the past several years, our Club has awarded $2,000 scholarships to exemplary students from the Interact Clubs of George Washington High School (GWHS) and Lowell High School (LHS). The purpose of the award program is to encourage leadership development and participation in Interact as well as recognize outstanding Interact club members by supporting their higher education goals. Students were selected by the Scholarship Committee based on several criteria pertaining to academic, extracurricular, volunteer, and leadership excellence. This year's recipients are:

George Washington High School Interact Club Contributes to Alliance for Smiles
Despite the shortened school year, the Interact Club at George Washington High School completed over 48 hours of volunteer service at a local food pantry, did a beach clean-up, provided support at marathons, and conducted bake sales to raise funds for a District International Service project. Together, they raised $850 and will be sending those funds to benefit Alliance for Smiles.

E-MEETING HIGHLIGHTS June 16, 2020: Emperor Norton and Special Awards
The June 16, 2020 virtual meeting of the Rotary Club of San Francisco was called to order at 12:15 PM by President Casey Blair (Financial Services: Private Trading | KCB Trading, LLC). Over 62 members and guests participated on the Zoom meeting, including a visiting Rotarian from Scotland.
 
President Casey began the meeting by mentioning the United States Supreme Court decision announced on Monday, June 15, 2020, extending Title VII of the US Civil Rights Act of 1964 to LGBTQ citizens. This momentous decision by the Court impacts millions of Americans, including many members of our own Club.

CLUB SOCIAL July 9, 2020:  Collage and Cocktails
Join Christopher Wiseman, who will share how collage can be fun, relaxing and inspiring. After introductions and showing a few examples, attendees will have an opportunity to collage, have a drink together and talk over Zoom. This activity is open to Rotarians and guests of all ages. The needs of children are often not part of routine disaster planning and preparedness in communities. Patricia Frost, Vice Chair of the National Pediatric Disaster Coalition, will discuss the impact of COVID-19 on children and communities and how each of us plays a role in creating systems of mitigation, response, recovery, and resiliency for children.
