Most Californians live within 30 miles of an active fault. Glenn Pomeroy, Chief Executive Officer of the California Earthquake Authority (CEA), will share information to help Californians, who live in older homes, seismically strengthen them against earthquake damage. That will help more Californians prepare to survive and recover from the next damaging earthquake.

Originally from North Dakota, Glenn served his native state as a state legislator (first elected at age 22), county prosecutor, and for eight years served as the state’s elected Insurance Commissioner. He was selected by his peers from around the country to serve as President of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, and later worked in the private reinsurance industry in Kansas City before moving to California.

Since 2008, Glenn Pomeroy has led the not-for-profit CEA — the largest earthquake insurance provider in the United States and one of the largest in the world. Under Glenn’s leadership, CEA now provides earthquake insurance protection for more than 1.1 million California homes, backed by more than $18 billion in claim paying capacity and has provided grant funding to seismically retrofit more than 11,000 older homes in higher risk areas. CEA was recently appointed Administrator of the California Wildfire Fund, established in 2019 to provide up to $21 billion in coverage for wildfires caused by investor-owned utilities.
