Kevin Patterson will talk about the past, present, and future of The Great Dickens Christmas Fair & Victorian Holiday Party, created by his parents and held annually in San Francisco since 1970.

Kevin's parents, Ron and Phyllis Patterson, had created the concept of Renaissance Faires in 1963 and brought a Renaissance Fair to the San Francisco Bay Area during the Summer of Love in 1967. A year later, they hosted a party where the costuming, food, decorations, and games were based on late 19th-century history and on the novels of Charles Dickens. The first Dickens Fair opened in San Francisco in 1970.

Kevin, along with his co-producers, wife Leslie Patterson and eldest son, Andrew Patterson, have helmed the Dickens Fair since 2000; along with son Michael and Punch & Judy Puppetmaster brother Brian Patterson, they continue a 50-year family tradition of presenting deeply immersive, historically authentic environmental theater!
