Lewis LoevenSan Francisco Fleet Week (SFFW) began in 1981 when then-Mayor Dianne Feinstein led the nation in celebrating America's sea services.

Taking place every October on the Marina Green over Italian Heritage Weekend, SFFW's air show, the parade of ships, and many community events have become a significant and integral part of the City's local culture and economy. SFFW features a unique training and education program that brings together civilian and military forces to develop and share best practices in humanitarian assistance.

Come hear all about Fleet Week, the Blue Angels, its history, and how fleet week impacts San Francisco's economy. Lewis Loeven, Executive Director, will share the inside scope on this year's Fleet Week festivities.

Mr. Loeven began his work with the San Francisco Fleet Week Association in 2010, serving as a member of its Board of Directors. In 2012, he took on the role of Executive Director, developing many of the unique programs that brought San Francisco Fleet Week to national attention, including the creation of the Fleet Week Center for Humanitarian Assistance. He oversees the execution of Fleet Week and all of the operations, sponsorship, logistics, and planning efforts.

This is a regular membership meeting of the Rotary Club of San Francisco, open to all Rotarians, visiting Rotarians, prospective members, and guests.

For in-person attendees: Please note that once Past President Mary Liu provides the headcount to the Hotel Nikko on the Friday before our Tuesday meeting, we will be billed for that count regardless of whether you show or not. Therefore, it is important to let her know if you are unable to attend after registering, but no later than Sunday night. If you are a no-show without notifying her ahead of time, the Club will be billed the cost of the meal and will have to pass the cost down to you. We hope to not have to do this.

Parking: If you are driving to the Hotel Nikko for this meeting, please leave your car with the Hotel Nikko valet. Pick up a validation sticker available at our check-in table. The discounted parking is $17.50 for three hours.

COVID-19 Protocol

If you do not feel well, please do not attend in person. Masks for those attending in person are optional during the event. We recommend that fully vaccinated individuals wear masks when the risk may be high.
